Wayne took over vocals permanently and in 1986 they released their first full-length album, Hear It Is.
In 1984, Richard English joined the band on drums and a year later, Mark Coyne left the band. Wayne played guitar while Mark sang lead vocals and the band suffered a rotating queue of inadequate drummers. The Flaming Lips were formed in 1983 by brothers Mark and Wayne Coyne with bassist Michael Ivins in Norman, Oklahoma. The Flaming Lips – Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots
